A record setting crowd of over 247,000 gathered to watch the U.S. Air Force Thunderbirds May 20-21 during the Star Spangled Salute Air Show at Tinker Air Force Base, Okla. There were more than 60,000 in attendance May 21. For the first time in Tinker air show history, officials closed the incoming gates to visitors after reaching parking capacity. This record setting crowd helped Tinker celebrate its 75th anniversary as well as the Air Force’s 70th birthday. This year also marks the E-3 Sentry’s 40th and the Navy’s 25th anniversaries at Tinker. (Air Force photo by Mark Hybers)
