Leaders from around the Air Force Sustainment Center gathered at Tinker Air Force Base Jan. 29 and 30 for the AFSC Commanders Summit. The two-day session gave commanders, directors and command chiefs an opportunity to align the respective approaches of the headquarters staff and the wings and complexes operating at our bases.

“Ensuring warfighter readiness is a team sport,” said Lt. Gen. Gene Kirkland, Commander of AFSC. “The value of these sessions is to generate crosstalk and share best practices, which results in tremendous synergy across our enterprise.”

Attendees addressed a variety of topics including the overall enterprise sustainment strategy and continued focus on the Art of the Possible and Leadership Model.

The Logistics, Engineering and Personnel Directorates addressed current initiatives, and each Commander discussed the main issues facing their Wing or Complex.

Through briefings and group discussion, participants were able to review the center’s priorities and make sure their organizational missions align appropriately.

“As we look at the National Defense Strategy and the shift toward great power competition, it was beneficial to be able to collaborate face-to-face, exchange ideas and consider different approaches with an innovative mindset to support the warfighter and more effectively meet our commitments,” said Maj. Gen. Stacey Hawkins, Commander of the Ogden Air Logistics Complex at Hill Air Force Base, Utah.

The historically annual event hosted approximately 30 leaders this year from four locations.
